We can now celebrate a big battle won in our ongoing struggle to prevent Jones Brothers’ two developments. This decision by the Inspector (attached below) is a real victory for us all and we’d never have achieved it without your support!!!!

Some people may feel a bit disappointed by the some of the points that the Inspector allows the company in parts of her report, e.g. their climate change arguments and claims about the need for peaking plants etc. But clearly if she’d let our arguments against those positions in as reasons for refusing the application, that would have risked setting a very difficult precedent for Welsh government to deal with....!
Also, she mentions in point 62 of her report that Cyngor Gwynedd have not yet decided on the concrete processing application and goes on to say that cumulative effect arguments have therefore 'not influenced my assessment of the planning merits of the application before me'.....
We always thought that noise would be one of the strongest reasons why the gas plant proposals would be rejected - and that is how it’s turned out. Because, in the Public Hearings last February, our arguments about human receptors of air pollution were not backed up enough by other contributors to the hearing, the Inspector has only included the effects of air pollution on the surrounding woodland in her reasons for refusal. But we could possibly still argue the air pollution effects on people again if the case should happen to go to appeal…..
All in all we can be very happy indeed with this result….!
We’ll wait and watch now to see if the company will appeal and we’ll be ready to fight on if they do, with the help of our two excellent expert consultants who have got us to this great result….!
We’ll keep you closely posted on whether the company chooses to appeal the decision and on how the PEDW report affects the Council’s handling of the concrete processing application, which Jones Brothers have managed to delay yet again with promises of ‘more information’….!
Thanks to everyone for your support and determination - there’s no doubt it’s that which has got us to this excellent result!
